Abstract

This article analyzes different interpretations of an important episode in the history of the ecumenical Christianity, which departed from diverse social actors in the context of the “political opening” of the Brazilian military regime. The International Ecumenical Congress of Theology (Congresso Internacional Ecumênico de Teologia, CIET) was held on the premises of PUC-SP, in March of 1980, capturing the attention of newspapers and the so-called,intelligence and security community“ of the dictatorship.
