Associative dynamics in 19th century Brazil: critical analyses of societes' registration at the State Council

Abstract

The text looks critically at registers for creation or reformulation of the statutes of associations formed in the city of Rio de Janeiro during the second half of the 19th century. Documents analyzed are from associations such as: beneficent, religious, philanthropic, ethnic, scientific, educational or related to sports, theatre, celebrations and leisure.
