Images of the land: photography, aesthetics and history

Abstract

Land conflicts in Brazil started a long time ago; however, only in the 1990s, with the actions of the Movimento dos Sem Terra (MST - Landless Peasants’ Movement), a public opinion on this social question was conceived. This work analyzes the pictures of die MST taken by Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado, relating them with songs and poetry especially written for the movement Words, sounds and images represent a morto of social justice.
