Abstract

Starting from Robert Dahi's propositions about Polyarchy, this article discusses some aspects of the Brazilian political system, highlighting the manner in which certain distortions, observed in electoral and party systems, tend to weaken the attachment to democracy in the country. These distortions occasion the political exclusion of quite a large number of citizens, through sterilization of votes, besides contributing to the reduction of political egalitarianism in Brazilian society.
