Abstract

The work comments on the Antônio Parreiras’ story "Pão Negro”, recently published in a book presented and introduced by the author. It makes an attempt to emphasize relevant aspects of the painter's imagination when he wrote the story, aiming at contributing to the historiography of Brazilian art, especially that of landscape art Among the emphasized aspects of the story discussed by the present work are Naturalism, the Grupo Grimm, individuality and personal expression, and art practised as a religion.
