Abstract
Considered a statement of presence, photography is used by many scientific fields: anthropology, archeology, ethnography, geography, medicine, criminology, physiology, etc. Through technical images XIX century society codifies the police portrait and proposes a new concept of Identity. By decomposing the movement of human and animal bodies, photography opens new paths to artistic research in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
