Abstract

Two Brazilian films locus, from very different perspectives on events related to the process of Independence in Brazil. Independence ou Morte, directed by Carlos Coimbra, appeared in 1972 during the commemorations for the 150th anniversary of Brazilian Independence, sponsored by the Medici government Carlota Joaquima, by Carla Camurati enjoyed a surprising critical and financial success in 1995 during the Collor administration. Both construct different images about Brazilian history, Images that have bесоmе part of the collective memory of our society.
