Abstract

The graduate course of economics has only been legal since 1931, but economics, as an Intellectual and professional activity, has a long history In Brazil. This paper analyses the origins of the profession of economics in Brazil going back to the formation of the national state. It shows the diverse root of the profession which came together and came into clear focus in the years between 1931 and 1945. During these years, the profession also differentialed itself from other professions.
