Abstract

The ascension of art to the category of liberal art at the beginning of the fifteenth century in Europe, especially in Italy, is the result of the recognition of the subject in opposition to the object. In the colony, the artistic activity is equal to any other activity, considered as a manual activity. Thus, artist and artisan remain indistinct subjects – that with distinguished the artist from the artisan is precisely the intellectual activity of the former.
