Abstract
The present study displays the several characters lived by Flora Instan duning her life: the traveller, the journalist and the woman. Her female character provides some of the most relevant experiences that contributed to the formation of a feminine identity in the contemporary society, namely motherhood, marriage and amorous relationships. The emphasis on the traveller character reveals Flora Tristan's trips as a privileged experience that accounts for her intellectual growth, as well as the important role they displayed in her personal life. The socialist character is built upon the historical scenery and political ideology that influenced Flora as well as an entire generation.
