Abstract

Having as stage the city of Sao Paulo in the early decades of the twentieth century, a space-time permeated by the references of modernity, these writings seek to examine the issues of masculinity, the representations of bodies and subjectivities touted by medical discourses, advertisements of medicines and hygiene, and how these elements acted in the construction of hegemonic masculinity.
