Abstract

The religious orientation scale, developed by Allport, has explored the initial hypothesis that intrinsic religiousness could be inversely related to prejudice behavior and, on the other hand, extrinsic religiousness would directly correlate with racial discrimination. Intrinsic religiousness might represent the expression of a mature personality, less predisposed to bigotry. In this review the authors investigate the theoretical substract for the I/E Scale in the title The individual and his religion, written by Allport.
