Pediatric hospitalizations for conditions sensitive to primary care in a northern Brazilian state

Abstract

The study proposes to describe and analyze the rates of hospitalization for PJI in children and adolescents in the state of Tocantins, Brazil, in the period from 2015 to 2020. This is a retrospective research with a quantitative approach based on secondary data collected in SIH-SUS, the data were organized in spreadsheets and analyzed by descriptive statistics. The PJCI were responsible for the hospitalization of 22.9% of children and adolescents in the period studied, the age group between 1 and 4 years was the most affected, followed by those under 1 year. The diseases with the highest frequency of hospitalizations were infectious gastroenteritis and pneumonia. In adolescents, the second highest hospitalization rate were diseases related to prenatal, childbirth and puerperium.
