Predile of users to the public and private health services in the capital of Roraima

Objective: To identify user preferences for public and private health care services. Methodology: Qualitative study, with 15 users of Primary Health Care (PHC) in 5 Basic Health Units of the city of Boa Vista-RR, Brazil, through semi-structured and recorded interview. Thematic content analysis technique was used. Results: There is a strong appeal for biomedical conduct and a significant interest in access to private complementary health, with the limiting factors being insufficient financial resources. The role of PHC was understood by users, but as the complexity of health demands increased, many signaled to resort to private plans. Conclusion: Most respondents expressed a preference for private health care with a strong appeal for biomedical conduct. It also has a strong desire to acquire private health plans, but the biggest limiting factor is socioeconomic aspect.
