The propose of the study is to analyzed the performance of the Family Health Program(PSF) in municipalities which the population is lower than 5.000 habitants in Minas Gerais State. The study used the health indicators of the effective coverage provided by PSF and the Hospitalization due to Ambulatory Care Sensitive conditions(ACSC) as a instrument of assessment. According to the results, the percentage of the Ambulatory Care Sensitive Conditions in January of 1999 was 43%, decreasing to 29% in December of 2007, while the coverage provided by PSF developed from 19% in January of 1999 to 95% in December of 2007. The study represents a significant statistic value confirming the increasing of the PSF covering and the decreasing the amount of the Hospitalizations due to Ambulatory Care Sensitive during the period of the research, meanwhile it could not affirm that the coverage provided by PSF was the only and principal responsible factor for this gradual development, but certainly it was a contributive factor.Downloads
