Abstract

Treatment Restaurador Atraumático, known as ART or TRA (in Portuguese), represents a philosophy of dental care that combines the minimally invasive intervention, when necessary, the methods, preventive education, in disease control dental caries, and represents a restorative treatment with broad social, becoming in a effective public health measure in restorative. Because of the success of this form of treatment, initially indicated especifically to communities devoid of equipment or conventional energy, the TRA has expanded its indication. This article aims to review through the available literature, the present stage and prospects of the TRA in disease control dental caries through the approach of its applicability, whose ideas of several researchers differ over the past two decades. This theoretical reflection on the controversy that the technique of the TRA has resulted in the dental on their cost and as a strategy of collective health, shows there is an incompatibility between the philosophical precepts of the art of access to the use of materials at high cost, thus preventing its employment.
