Abstract

The purpose of this study is to contribute with elements that bring further clarification to the following question: How, in Christian History, the theme of the culture was explored? This is done to understand the contemporary reality and the historical development of the concept. Therefore, a literature review and document analysis research were carried out here. Thus, it was observed that the concept of culture, although not worked in a systematic way in some periods, maintains a general understanding of the concept as the identity of a people, formed by diverse assumptions. The understanding regarding the importance of these assumptions in defining the validity of this culture and its Christian reception, however, has been modified throughout history.
