Influence of parental characteristics on the development of childhood anxiety in social situations

This study aims to verify the influence of parental personality and parenting styles on
the development of behavioral patterns typical of childhood Social Anxiety Disorder.
The study is quantitative in nature, has a non-experimental, correlational and
cross-sectional design. The sample included 100 parents/caregivers of children
between 8 and 12 years old. Data collection was carried out through an online
questionnaire answered by parents. Spearman's r Correlation and Multiple Linear
Regression analyzes were performed. The results indicated that the authoritarian style
and the neuroticism factor significantly impact the development of social anxiety in
children.
