Abstract: In our rapidly evolving global landscape, we are witnessing unprecedented shifts on economic, social, political, technical, legal, and environmental fronts. The nexus of globalization and geo-politics is reshaping economies and influencing international relations, unveiling a plethora of multifaceted crises. This special issue delves deep into these transformations, particularly focusing on their direct and indirect repercussions on the tourism and hospitality industry.

Overview: Reports from the World Economic Forum and the United Nations highlight a confluence of challenges sweeping the globe. The world grapples with a financial downturn, compounded by issues of drug peddling, human trafficking, and the looming shadow of cross-border terrorism. Tensions simmer at international borders, with political unrest and societal polarization on the rise. The health sector, too, isn’t untouched, with pandemics and epidemics threatening global populations. Meanwhile, our environment sends distress signals via droughts, food crises, and a rapid loss of biodiversity. As technology strides forward, it brings with it a set of challenges, including the menace of cybercrime and the pressing concern of the digital divide. Furthermore, the ever-shifting geopolitical chessboard presents its own set of challenges, with power dynamics and trade patterns undergoing significant transformation.

The world stands at a precarious juncture, with acute food insecurity on an alarming rise, affecting millions. Educational and medical institutions find themselves under siege with increased attacks. The climatic changes are hard to ignore, with the past eight years registering as some of the warmest on record. Economic challenges manifest in the form of fuel and food price hikes, pinching low-income countries the hardest. Simultaneously, the health sector battles against formidable adversaries like COVID-19, monkeypox, and Ebola. Societal challenges weave a complex tapestry of digital divides, gender disparities, poverty, and humanitarian crises.

Focus of this Special Issue: This issue seeks to bridge research gaps that arise from these global crises, emphasizing the tourism industry's pivotal role in bolstering economic and social inclusion, equity, peace, and prosperity on a global scale.

Justification of the Proposed Theme: Understanding the nuances of these global challenges is imperative. This theme ventures to assess the symbiotic relationship between global peace and the prosperity ushered in by the tourism sector. It aims to shed light on the mutating global dynamics, offering a comprehensive perspective on sustainability, resilience, and global challenges. Furthermore, it will evaluate the myriad initiatives springing up worldwide to address these concerns.

"Charting the Future of the Tourism & Hospitality Industry through Politics, Peace, and Prosperity" is a broad and multi-faceted topic that involves examining the complex interplay between geopolitical considerations, peace-building efforts, and economic prosperity in the context of the tourism and hospitality sector. By investigating into these areas, we can develop a comprehensive understanding of how politics, peace, and prosperity intersect in shaping the future of the tourism and hospitality industry. Hence, each subtopic offers opportunities for in-depth analysis, exploration of best practices, and the identification of strategies to navigate the complex landscape of this dynamic industry.

Authors interested in this special issue are invited to submit an extended abstract (maximum 1000 words excluding references), until 28 February 2024 to the contacts Information listed below. UGC-CARE- A Quality Mandate for Indian Academia

The University Grants Commission (UGC – India), on the 28^th of November, 2018, to announce the establishment of a dedicated Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics (CARE) to match global standards of high quality research, in all academic disciplines. One of its instruments is the UGC-CARE list of journals.

The Scope of the UGC-CARE List

UGC-CARE has taken the responsibility of preparing the “UGC-CARE Reference List of Quality Journals” (UGC-CARE List).
A list of Indian journals, especially from disciplines of Arts, Humanities, Languages, Culture and Indian Knowledge Systems is being prepared and updated quarterly (UGC-CARE Group I).
The UGC-CARE List includes journals from all disciplines indexed in globally accepted databases, such as indexed in Scopus (Source list) or Web of Science (Arts and Humanities Citation Index Source Publication, Science Citation Index Expanded Source Publication, Social Science Citation Index Source Publication). These journals are to be considered for all academic purposes. Journals indexed in Scopus and / or Web of Science are part of UGC-CARE List Group II.

The UGC-CARE List has only TWO groups, instead of the original FOUR groups to simplify the search process. These are NOT hierarchic or ranked groups.
